The MPT official said, “One crew vessel is likely to arrive by next week while the second is expected by the first week of June along with around 1200 Indian seafarers, said. MPT’s Deputy Senior Traffic Manager Jerry Clement revealed that two crew vessels are likely to come to the MPT. One vessel will arrive next week and the other in the first week of June. This vessel with 1200 Indian Seafarers crew members on board is expected to arrive in Goa.

“These vessels will be coming from the international ports from which one will be from Mumbai enroute. These vessels will be coming to MPT only with the permissions from the state govt.”

Clement refused to comment on whether the recently installed smart kiosks will be used to scan the seafarers at the MPT.

It may be recalled that a few days ago, around four smart kiosks for thermal scanning and other checks were installed at the MPT. The facility is expected to be put to use for scanning and after examination, the crew will be allowed to enter the state, as directed earlier.
