MARGAO/CHANDOR: The Feast of Epiphany was celebrated with pomp and grandeur at Chandor Cavorim and Guirdolim on Monday with three youngsters from each of the revenue villages representing the three ‘Magi’ namely Gasper, Balthazar and Melchior paying respects to the Child Jesus.
The three wise men were Denan D’Cruz originally from Chandor but now living in Cavorim. Melfern D’Costa from Guirdolim and Jeremiah de Silva from Cavorim. All three of them wore their vests and riding on the horses started their journey from the Our Lady of Piety Chapel and ceremoniously walked down to the church accompanied by a brass band.
Parish Priest of Tilamol Church Fr Leonard Moraes, who was the main celebrant for the feast Mass, preached the homily where he emphasised how Mother Mary throughout her life helped serve Jesus, like the marriage at Cana and pointed out that the Catholic Church recognised the visions of Our Lady of Fatima and Our Lady of Lourdes. In the 15 minute homily, he urged the people to accept Jesus in their lives and then share Him in everyday life.
The choir was led by Fr Mario Noronha, the assistant to parish priest. Later, Chandor church website www.chandorchurch,com was launched by the Parish Priest Fr Simao Rodrigues. Glen Antao helped in developing the site. The special issue of the church magazine “Prokas” was released by Fr Leonardo. Anthony Dias from the editorial board also spoke.
