PONDA: Shiroda Panchayat has eleven wards and seven of them are reserved making it difficult for established politicians. Shiroda Sarpanch Sandesh Prabudesai said he is not contesting election as most of seats are reserved.
According to him Shiroda Panchayat urgently needs two bypass roads, market complex and utilization of idle lying KTC bus stand to decongest the Shiroda Bazar. Traffic congestion is regular feature in Shiroda. Shiroda Panchayat has witnessed only one sarpanch since the election in 2012. Shiroda is mostly dependent on government grants and with proposed two industrial estates at Shiroda and Panchwadi Shiroda Panchayat, an increase in revenue is expected.
Shiroda Panchayat faces a major problem of traffic congestion at the Bazar. In Shiroda Bazar there exist a small traditional market which includes shops, panchayat offices, besides passengers buses which halt for taking passengers. It is even used as a bus stand causing traffic congestion in the short space of the Market located on the roadside. Road passing from Shiroda Bazar is narrow and limited space available is used by all concerned for daily use. It creates hardship for people as vehicles are trapped in the traffic congestion. According to the Shiroda Sarpanch the solution lies in constructing two bypass road, shifting of vendors by constructing new market complex and put to use the bus stand which is ready for use but lying idle since inauguration. The contruction of bypass road one from Shivanthi to KTC bus stand, and second bypass from Bus Stand via Gadyamal Kamaxi Temple will help thousands of devotees coming for the Amvasya Festival in Kamaxi Temple. Beside this market complex will make easy to use the unutilized KTC Bus Stand at Shiroda which is some distance from the bazaar.
