MARGAO: Former Congress MLAs who moved congratulatory motion on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) 2019 have conned the voters said AAP in a statement they released on Monday.
Goa Assembly passed congratulatory motion in favour of CAA after MLAs Atanasio Monserrate, Clafasio Dias moved the motion congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for introducing the CAA.
AAP said that they have made a mockery of the electorate that had voted them on Congress tickets. It also showed how deep the nexus between these former Congress MLAs and the BJP in the run up to the elections, said the Aam Aadmi Party.
AAP leader Patricia Fernandes said that it was shameful that these former Congressmen have behaved more as conmen who had conned people to vote for them, although deep inside they worked for the BJP.
She asked these MLAs to stand on a public platform and State whether they have read about CAA or even understood it or have been forced to move the motion to prove their loyalty to the BJP.
