Ex-Dy CM asks for forgiveness from Goans

Fatorda MLA admits committing major political mistake for not opting out of government after Parrikar’s death; Inaugurates Goenkar Ghor dedicated to Goans on his 50th birthday

MARGAO: Former Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai on Sunday apologised and asked for forgiveness from Goans for committing a major political mistake in his political career for not having opted out of the government after former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s death.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Goenkar Ghor dedicated to Goans on the occasion of his 50th birthday along with his father Dr Jaiwant Sardesai, wife Usha Sardesai, Goa Forward Party MLAs Jayesh Salgaonkar, Vinod Palyekar, MMC chairperson Pooja Naik and office bearers of the party. 

“I would like to apologise and I am asking for forgiveness from the Goans for the major political mistake I have made in my political career for not having opted out of the government after the death of Parrikar. Today, Goans are suffering because of our mistake and we are ready to seek penance. I want to clarify that we will in no way aid to form this kind of government in power ever again,” Vijai said.

Vijai said, “We are serious political entity and whatever we speak will stand the test of legal scrutiny and will pass through expert think tank, which will not be just Goa Forward think tank but all inclusive to help the government in making good laws and legislations”. 

He said the think tank will give priority two indigenous population. “The new leadership must come from the grassroots and to train this leadership is very important. A leadership training institute for mostly the young leaders will be started,” he informed.

Criticising the BJP government, Vijai said, “We have said it earlier that we have cast a dye which is serious. We are not warning anyone, but this inefficient government, which is non-transparent, has no administrative accountability, won’t ever be aided by us to help establish such a government. For us BJP is finished after the death of Parrikar and I repeat it today that we will never let BJP rule this State in the future,” he vowed.
