PANJIM: Ex-Minister and Independent MLA Govind Gaude joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, hours after resigning as the member of the House.
The former MLA has been supporting BJP-led government since 2017 and has been part of both the State cabinets led by late Manohar Parrikar and Pramod Sawant respectively. His entry into the party has however upset the Priol’s BJP mandal, who had already warned the party they will work against the BJP and Gaude, who is said to be a confirmed candidate on the BJP symbol.
As the induction program took place in the head office of the BJP where BJP election in-charge for Goa Devendra Fadnavis, CM Sawant and other senior leaders were present; the party released a statement informing that Priol block has a new President Dilip Naik.
