PONDA: In a fervent plea to defeat Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) President Deepak Dhavalikar at the party’s Central Committee election scheduled on January 16, Ponda’s former MLA Lavoo Mamledar called upon partymen to elect Nilesh Patekar as the next chief if they are really concerned about the party and its growth.
Addressing the media persons along with Patekar and Kishore Parwar, the former MLA said he is not bothered as to who will be elected on MGP Central Committee but wants Deepak out.
“If Deepak is elected again it will turn into a private limited company. Further, there is a threat to merge MGP with other political party. Until Deepak is the president, the party won’t grow. The party work is limited to Ponda only. When 11 members elected on Central Committee meeting are from Ponda it means that party work is limited only to Ponda for Dhavalikar family’s vested interests,” he alleged.
Further, he said, “All these years the MGP leaders spoke on the party’s growth but their actions didn’t speak. Deepak should have resigned following his two successive defeats in the Priol and Shiroda elections.”
“Dhavalikar brothers do not want the party to grow across Goa but, want to limit MGP just to the Dhavalikar family members. If MGP delegates want to carry out party work across Goa then they have a golden opportunity to vote for Nilesh as party president who is contesting against Deepak,” Lavoo requested.
He urged the delegates to elect four other members contesting the Central Committee election supporting Nilesh.
