SANGUEM: Former MLA from Sanguem Subhash Phaldessai has urged the Sanguem Police to conduct a thorough investigation into the case of charred body found in a cashew plantation at Kuinamoll in Sanguem.
Phaldessai also urged the police authorities to probe into the angle of murder in the event that the charred body is that of Shantaram Shirodkar, who is missing since December 23.
Stating that the sequences of events and discoveries at site point to the direction that the charred body is that of Shantaram Shirodkar, Phaldessai has threatened to lead an agitation along with the family members of Shirodkar if the police fail to do justice to the family of Shirodkar.
“If the charred body is that of Shirodkar, then, it goes a long way to prove some foul play in the matter. It is ironic that the footwear and cap found at the site remain intact while the surroundings are totally burnt,” Phaldessai pointed out.
Phaldessai said that only a DNA test would reveal the identity of charred body.
Incidentally, though the post mortem report has already reached the Sanguem Police, the authorities are yet to make the same public pending the arrival of the DNA report.
