Ex-MLA Gonsalves joins AAP, prefers to contest polls

PANJIM: Former St Cruz MLA Victor Gonsalves joined Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday and has expressed desire to contest upcoming assembly polls.

PANJIM: Former St Cruz MLA Victor Gonsalves joined Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday and has expressed desire to contest upcoming assembly polls. 
Gonsalves had earlier worked as an election agent for both Victoria Fernandes (mummy) and Atanasio Monseratte.
Gonsalves who has started his political career in the 1980s with youth Congress was a member of the legislative assembly in 1989-94. He also served as a panch of St Cruz panchayat. During his tenure as MLA he was a chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) and also chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC). 
“People have asked me to contest the election and that is the reason why I have joined AAP,” Gonsalves said. 
He said that he has voluntarily joined AAP since the ideology of the party converged with his own.
However, AAP Goa Convener Valmiki Naik said that the candidature will be decided by following the proper procedures laid down by the party. 
Former Zilla Panchayat Member Adv Suresh Palkar also joined AAP along with Gonsalves.
