The interactive session was attended by local MLAs and municipal councillors and officials.
Xavier is a native of Margao and has an ancestral house near the Holy Spirit Church. He was honored by the MMC by presenting him with a painting of Mario Miranda.
Xavier said, “Culture and its preservation have to happen at all means. The sense of protection of culture and traditions has to be cultivated in the people at large for a better protection of our country and its identity.
“India is a country of diverse cultures and identities and it becomes more important for all Indians to protect cultures in the same harmony which they have been doing till date,” he added.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai urged Xavier to provide assistance for the renovation of the old Camara building which lies in a dilapidated stage now.
