PANJIM: The Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday further strengthened its base with former Porvorim Block Congress Committee president Shankar Phadte joining the party along with 10 block executive committee members.
They were inducted into the party in the presence of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) national vice president Luizinho Faleiro and Lok Sabha MP and AITC Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra at the party office in Panjim.
Following his induction, Phadte, an advocate by profession, said he was delighted to join the vibrant platform of Goa TMC. He said, “In 2017 when the BJP government was forced upon Goa, I was one of the few people who opposed it. But, Congress was simply not willing to form the government.”
Saying that the State government was rattled with the entry of TMC in Goa, Phadte remarked that Trinamool Congress is the only party that can take on the ruling BJP. Faleiro welcomed the new grassroots leaders and said, “Phadte is a dynamic block member. TMC is just not a political party but a movement to give good governance. I know he will play a crucial role in the next phase of our action plan.”
