MARGAO: Is Benaulim Panchayat trying to buy time in supporting the criminals? The question being asked by former sarpanch and social activist Royla Fernandes, when she was asked by the panchayat to submit her identity proof with regard to her application to call a meeting so that safety plan for women and children of Benaulim is prepared.
However, the panchayat has refuted the charge and clarified that it is just an administrative procedure.
Speaking to the media persons, Royla expressed shock and surprise at how can a village panchayat ask for identity proof for a proposal to help the panchayat.
“She questioned this is a delay tactic. “The panchayat had informed that only after the submission of ID proof the application will be processed. Are we buying time to protect criminals? Or we are delaying to act on the cases which need attention?,” she stated.
