PANJIM: Goa Excise Commissioner Narayan Gad will on Friday, July 29 at 11 am hold a hearing on the complaint filed by Adv Aires Rodrigues over the illegally obtained liquor licence by ‘Silly Souls Café and Bar’ allegedly being run by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani’s family at Bhouta Vaddo, Assagao village.
The Excise Commissioner on July 21 had issued a show cause notice to one Anthony D’Gama on a complaint filed by Rodrigues demanding a thorough inquiry into the alleged fraud which was reportedly orchestrated by Irani’s family in conjunction with Excise officials and the Assagao village panchayat.
In the show cause notice, the Commissioner has asked D’Gama why the licence issued to him should not be cancelled for violating the provisions of the Goa Excise Duty Act and Rules 1964. The licence holder was asked to reply to the show cause within seven days from the date of the receipt of the notice failing which it will be presumed that the licenser has nothing to say in the matter.
Meanwhile, Adv Rodrigues on Thursday met Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik and submitted a complaint seeking his immediate intervention of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department into the illegal change of land use and filling of the low-lying tenanted field in rank contravention of law to erect the now controversial restaurant
