PONDA: Excise Department officials at the Anmod Ghat check-post on Tuesday seized 158 litres of liquor made in Goa, which was being transported illegally into Karnataka.
The seized liquor is worth Rs 5,68,800. A tempo-rickshaw vehicle was also seized and the driver Feroz Hajibai Locha, a native of Gujarat, was arrested.
According to the team at the check post, all vehicles proceeding towards Karnataka through the Anmod Ghat route are being strictly inspected by excise officials, with the Assembly elections in the neighbouring State are fast approaching.
