MAPUSA: In an appeal to the town residents, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) on Saturday urged them to take precautions during Ganesh idol immersions in the Tar River.
In a press release, MMC chairperson Ryan Braganza said the idol should be immersed in water only by a good or trained swimmer.
At the same time the civic body has informed that Drishti Marines will provide lifeguards at the Tar River on the immersion days for any help.
The Nirmalya i.e garlands, flowers etc of Lord Ganesh should be placed in the special vessel Niramalya Kalash, which is kept or rather placed near the immersion place.
The press release further states that this year the depth of the water of River Tar is three metres hence Ganesh devotees are requested to take caution while immersing the idols.
