MARGAO: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Thursday inspected the ongoing renovation and beautification work of historic Lohia Maidan, here and urged to expedite the work.
Newly elected Chairperson Lyndon Pereira, Vice-Chairperson Dipali Sawal, besides few other councillors were present at the time of inspection.
Speaking to the media persons, Fatorda MLA said that the project with regard to the beautification of Lohia Maidan is pending since 2011.
“The BJP took two years to issue the tender and after a long period of time, the work has begun. We hope that the work will be completed very soon,” he stated.
He also alleged that sidelining the Lohia Maidan and that too, the 60th Year of Goa Liberation shows that this government is least bother to honour the great leader, who started a revolution in the State.
“Redesigning and beautification was initiated when I was the Minister. Tender of Rs 2.16 crore floated in 2019 and work order was awarded only on Febuary 1, 2021 after raising the issue in Assembly and outside,” he stated.
Both the MLAs later discussed the undergoing beautification work with the concerned contractor and they urged him to expedite it.
