The State Council of the National Rural Employment Guarantee (NREG) Scheme on Tuesday has resolved to extend the scheme to farmers, including vegetable growers in the state.
The meeting held under the Chairmanship of RDA Minister, Churchill Alemao reviewed the implementation of the NREG scheme in both North and South Goa districts.
The RDA Minister took the occasion to once again convey a message to the gram sevaks employed by the RDA that he would no longer tolerate any inefficiency on their party while discharging their duties.
“The gram sevaks employed by the RDA should work towards the implementation of the schemes. If not, I will be forced to terminate the services of the non-performing employees”, he warned.
Saying he means business, the RDA Minister appealed to the Ministers and MLAs not to exert any influence to save the non-performing employees. “I would like to make it very clear to the MLAs and Ministers that they should desist from putting any influence on me to save these employees”, he added.
Incidentally, Tuesday’s meeting constituted a three-member committee comprising of Rajini Raikar, Anna Carneiro and Filomena Barrettot review the performance of the gram Sabha, with directions to submit the report by August end.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that Alemao has conveyed warnings to the erring gram sevaks to perform or quit. The RDA Minister had in the past sounded warnings to the gram sevaks, but action against the erring staff has not been forthcoming till date.
