CUNCOLIM: The officials of the Directorate of Factories and Boilers inspected the ammonia tank of fish meal plant Quality Foods at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate (CIE) following the death of a worker due to leakage.
The inspection revealed that the leakage was due to crack in the valve.
The officers have instructed factory management to keep plant shut till further notice.
The officials informed that they would investigate the matter and if any negligence is found a complaint would be filed before the Judicial Magistrate. They instructed the Quality Foods management to replace the faulty equipment.
The Labour Commissioner has asked his officer to conduct an inquiry into the incident and to find out irregularities in both the factories at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate. The commissioner directed the officer to file detailed report within a week.
The police on Sunday recorded the statement of injured worker undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Cuncolim Police on Saturday had registered an offence against the management of the Quality Foods.
It may be recalled that a worker one Kishan Kumar lost his life while four others were injured following the gas leakage on Friday.
