PORVORIM/PONDA: The two-day Faith Celebration ‘Story of God’s Love’ concluded at the Holy Family Church in Porvorim on Sunday. The celebration was held to commemorate the year of faith which concluded in India on November 21.
Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao, accompanied by his secretary, Fr Joaquim Loiola Pereira, visited the Faith exhibition and spent nearly an hour visiting various stalls at the exhibition.
‘The celebration which was a depiction of the story of Salvation over the ages by the Catechism children and parishioners attracted a large number of the faithful from the neighbouring parishes as well as people of other faiths,’ stated a press note issued from the church.
Incidentally, Parish Priest Fr Tomas Lobo exhibited his photos at the ‘Eco Yatra Stall’ and covered various scenes from the State to praise God’s creation.
The event concluded in the evening with a spiritual presentation of hymns, skits, music, song and dance and the draws of the raffle and the souvenir.
Meanwhile elsewhere in Ponda, Mount Carmel Chapel, Ponda, held Eucharistic Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the solemnity of Christ the King, followed by Eucharistic procession on Sunday evening.
The 15 Small Christian Communities (SCC) of Chapel of O L Carmel Ponda, Catechists, lay ministers, Confraria, youth, SFO, religious Sisters and Brothers participated in the procession, which began from the Chapel.
“The year of faith was called by Pope Benedict on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II and the 20th anniversary of the Catechism of the Catholic Church,” said Fr Basil Lobo, OFM, Chaplain of Ponda.
“It has been an eventful year for our Catholic faith, marked by a Synod of Bishops on the subject of the new evangelization, the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, the election of Pope Francis, and a new papal encyclical ‘Lumen Fidei,’ (‘Light of Faith’) on, appropriately, the subject of faith,” added Fr Lobo.
