Margao market panel election on Nov 29

MARGAO: Caught on the wrong foot over its resolution to swap posts on the Municipal statutory Committees, the stage is finally set for elections to the market and sanitation committees on November 29 to pave way for Councillor Pratima Coutinho to get into the market panel and take over its reigns.

MARGAO:  Caught on the wrong foot over its resolution to swap posts on the Municipal statutory Committees, the stage is finally set for elections to the market and sanitation committees on November 29 to pave way for Councillor Pratima Coutinho to get into the market panel and take over its reigns.
A member of the market panel and MMC Vice-Chairperson Dadi Mayenkar tendered his resignation from the market panel on Tuesday. Dadi’s decision to quit will facilitate election for the vacant seat and to make way for Pratima to get into the panel.
The 14-member ruling group has already decided to support Pratima Coutinho for the post of market Committee chairperson. The market committee comprises of four elected members and Dadi’s decision on Tuesday is aimed to paving way for election to the vacant seat and to get Pratima elected on the panel.
Once this election process is complete, the four members of market panel will elect a new Chairperson of the market Committee, with Dadi publicly expressing his willingness to step down from the much-sought after post.
MMC officials said that Dadi’s resignation was handed over to the Municipal Chairperson Dayanand Deulkar setting the stage for election for the vacant post.
