PANJIM: The Porvorim Police arrested three persons for allegedly running a fake call centre racket from a villa at Nerul. The accused have been identified as Subodh Sharma (43) from Andheri (East), Mumbai, Arjun Bakaraniya (26) from Ameri, Gujarat, and Patel Perth (31) from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. According to the police, the accused were arrested following a raid in the late hours of May 13, 2024, at Fottawado, Nerul. The accused were allegedly caught red-handed engaged in activity at a fake call centre by targeting victim callers from foreign countries especially United States of America by impersonating themselves as employees of Microsoft, an American multi-national company, and offering technical support and anti-virus, etc, by using laptops, mobile phones and other accessories to the victim callers from foreign countries and charging money from them.
