PORVORIM: An unidentified man, impersonating as a cop robbed a senior citizen of his gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh at Porvorim. Police stated that the impersonator fled with the ornaments after taking the elderly man for a ride.
Manohar Dattaram Korgaonkar (80), in his complaint to police stated that he was plucking flowers from his garden at around 4 pm on Wednesday when a man pretending to be a policeman advised him not to wear gold ornaments and instead told him to put it in a piece of paper.
The thief then wrapped the ornaments in the paper and returned it back to Korgaonkar. Later when he went to the house and removed the bundle from his pocket and realised that he was conned and found three stones instead.
Korgaonkar immediately lodged a complaint with the Porvorim police station.
