MARGAO, FEB 16
Residents of migrant inhabited Fakir Bandh took to the streets of Margao to protest against the disruption of water supply to the locality since the last two days.
It was only after the residents raised a banner of protest this morning that the authorities got into top gear and restored water supply at around 11.30 am.
Former Margao Municipal Chairperson Savio Coutinho who led the residents said that the authorities, including the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation resorted to a blame game for the last two days without rectifying the fault.
“Finally, it came to light on Wednesday morning that the water pipeline was damaged due to digging by the ongoing four-lane work”, he said.
The matter was taken up with the PWD Minister, Churchill Alemao, who immediately instructed senior officials in-charge of water supply to attend to the problem immediately.
The residents, who came on the road, returned back to their houses, only after the concerned officials restored water supply to the locality.
