Faldesai-led panel wins Goa Dairy BoD elections

The nine-member elected panel led by Faldesai, who is a former chairman, include GurudasParab, Vithoba Desai, Ulhas Sinari, and Vijaykant Gaonkar, Baburao Desai, Uday Prabu, Babu Falo and Nitin Prabu

PONDA: Rajesh Faldesai-led panel secured a majority of votes in the Goa Dairy Board of Directors elections. 

In the BoD elections which were held on Sunday and counting done on Monday, out of the 12 members, nine were elected from Faldesai’s panel while two were from Madhav Sahakari’s panel and Shrikant Naik himself from his panel.

There was a tie among the votes secured by former chairman Shrikant Naik and Vikas Prabu as both secured 55 votes each, following which, the winner was by decided by a toss, wherein Shrikant was declared the lucky winner.

Speaking to media persons after the election results, Faldesai said, “Goa Dairy presently is going through a critical stage.  Its financial status is delicate. Goa Dairy milk sale has currently gone down. There is a need for hard work by all the elected directors for the survival and development of Goa Dairy. We also need the government’s support for the upliftment of Goa Dairy”.

He said, “The BoD chairman will be decided in the meeting after a week.”

Two elected members from former chairman Madhav Sahakari’s panel include Madhav Sahakari and Anup Desai. Shrikant Naik is a former chairman elected from his panel.
