Ponda: Heavy rains and strong winds caused trees to collapse on houses and electric poles, causing damage and loss to property.
The Ponda Fire station received around nine calls of such incidents. One such call was at Marad, Dharbandora where a huge tree fell on the house of Vithal Gaude early Wednesday morning causing the family losses to the tune of around Rs 1 lakh.
Elsewhere at Undir Bandora, Ponda, several Betel Nut trees along with a mango and a coconut tree collapsed the house of one Santosh Bakhle. The other calls were about trees falling on the road and electric wires. Besides this there were seven other calls in Ponda Taluka with tree felling on road and also on electric wires.
