Falling trees keep fire services busy

MARGAO: Clearing trees that had either fallen down or threatening to fall, kept fire service staff at Margao busy.

A coconut tree that fell on a compound wall near Benaulim panchayat was cleared by fire service personnel in an operation that lasted one-and-a-half hour.

According to Margao Fire Station Officer (SFO) Gil Souza team led by Fire Figher N G Pagi saved property worth Rs. 10,000.

In another incident, a huge banyan tree fell on an internal road, near a vehicle washing centre at Sonsodo.

Fire fighters led by Leading Fire Fighter R S Khutkar with the help of JCB cleared the path for people.

Besides, fire service personnel led by Leading Fire Fighter S P Dessai cleared a wild tree that was threatening to fall on a house near Ayappa Mandir at Ramnagri, Curtorim.

Team led by Fire Fighter N G Pagi cleared a rain tree that was leaning on the road near the Collector’s guest house at Monte Hill, Margao.
