COLVA: Fama de Menino Jesus was observed at Our Lady of Merces Church Colva on Monday. Parish Priest Fr Simpliciano Fernandes was the main celebrant for the high mass.
In his homily, Fr Simpliciano said Menino Jesus is a blessing to us. “It is a great privilege for us that Menino Jesus is with us today, gives us freedom. Our ancestors prayed to him and with His blessings many sicknesses too were cured,” said the parish priest.
He further requested the faithful to proclaim the word of God quoting Mark 16:15 exhorting attendees to become the light house and torch bearers of Lord Jesus’ teachings with faith and always to serve others.
After the mass the miraculous statue of Menino Jesus was brought down from the High Altar. This was followed by Maddi, (blessing of banner), a prayer towards eradication of Corona Virus and a general blessing of miraculous statue of Menino Jesus. The statue was later replaced on the High Altar.
Confraria members helped the attendees maintain SOPs.
Earlier Fr Fernandes speaking to Herald said in his message. “Menino Jesus is a great blessing for the people of Colva and worldwide. He protects his devotees from all pandemic and fears and his devotees are blessed with good health, prosperity and happiness.”
