MARGAO: Margao Police Inspector Filomeno Costa has been transferred to the Colva police station while the PI posted at Colva police station, Tulsidas Naik has been shifted to Margao on Friday.
It may be recalled that social activist Advocate Aires Rodrigues had submitted a written representation to the State Election Commissioner (SEC) that keeping Filomeno at Margao may be in conflict of interest during the ensuing general panchayat elections scheduled for August 10.
Adv Rodrigues said that he was constrained to seek the intervention of the SEC despite PI Costa being known as an upright officer.
While stating that Margao PI Filomeno is a resident of Davorlim village, which is partly within the jurisdiction of Margao Police Station, he drew the attention of the SEC that he has been informed that many of PI Costa’s close relatives are reportedly contesting panchayat elections from Davorlim and also from Navelim Village Panchayat which falls within the jurisdiction of Margao Police Station.
