Family of five fired upon in Khareband

Victim’s sister approached Maina Curtorim police who said they could do nothing to help as the group was big

MARGAO: Four men opened fired at a family in Khareband on Monday night as they were on their way to Colva. Three assailants were detained by Margao police and interrogated for hours. Avinash Gunjikar, one of their victims, knew all four men.
According to Avinash’s sister, the four men arrived in a white car at around 10 pm. They stopped Avinash’s car, which had five occupants, and fired three bullets. One of them barely missed Avinash.
The sister identified three of the assailants as Johnny, Javed, Badshah. She also said a gang of 50 had allegedly pelted stones and glass bottles at their house on Sunday night.
“When we told the Maina-Curtorim police, they said the group was big and so they cold not do anything. Who do we go to if this is said by the police?” she said. 
Avinash owns a pet shop and a bar in Dicarpale-Ravanfond. He has no enemies, according to his family.
