VALPOI: Ration was provided to the family of the persons accused of killing tigers by the government authorities on Tuesday.
The officials who visited the family include Deputy Collector Mangaldas Gaonkar, Valpoi Health Officer and officers from the Civil Supplies Department
It is learnt that the arrested accused are the only bread earners in the family.
On sensing that the family members of the accused were fear stricken, the deputy collector informed them that they would be provided with police protection, transport facilities and regular supply of ration from the civil supplies department.
On Tuesday, four members of the family were found suffering from fever and cold; their children have stopped going to school and their cattle have not been milked since the arrest of the accused.
“The family will provide police security, health facilities and whatever basic facilities they require,” Deputy Collector Gaonkar said.
Besides, the family was given a cheque from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as compensation for their cattle killed by tigers.
