PANJIM: The nationwide call given by farmers unions for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ to protest the Central government’s three laws on agriculture received a lacklustre response in the State of Goa with public services running smoothly without any obstruction.
It may be recalled that All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) had supported the call for bandh.
AITUC members however reiterated that the response was good as their members and industrial workers carried out demonstrations for about half an hour to an hour at their respective industrial estates and had then resumed their work. AITUC members added that they had not asked for work to be stopped. Local police officials also said that although they were ready and had put in place precautionary measures there was no untoward incident and that public life went on as normal.
