Farmers heave sigh of relief

PONDA : As the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) gave a green signal revoking the closure notice to Sanjeevani Sugar Factory, the much delayed and eagerly awaited Sanjeevani Sugar Factory annual crushing season will commence from Thursday with technical trial being held, which will be continuous and there after the official crushing season inauguration will be held by the Government on Saturday 15
December. Farmers supplying sugarcane to Sanjeevani Sugar Factory  who had staged protest Dharna at sugar factory premises over delay of crushing season on 26 November today expressed happiness and heaved sigh of relief as they can now harvest the sugarcane for crushing season which continues for around 100 to 120 days. Some farmers are also likely to attend the crushing season that commences from today. .
The Official sources in the Sanjeevani Sugar Factory said all preparations are on to begin the crushing season. It is learnt that during the crushing season the workers of Sanjeevani Sugar Factory will  works in three shifts.  The Administrator of Sanjeevani Sugar Factory who is in Delhi will return in Goa after getting in hand the revoke order. Sugar cane harvesting which was stopped for past few days will commence in full swing from Thursday.  Sanjeevani Sugar Factory needs advance stock of 1200 metric tons in hand. For the smooth operation of machinery 1200 metric tons is required for crushing per day.   The Farmers had already harvested and sent to Sanjeevani premises around 2000 metric tons of sugar cane for the commencement of crushing season and with revoke order they will began their harvesting of sugarcane as fast as possible..
It is a tradition that every year Chief Minister or the Agriculture and other ministers, local MLAs inaugurates the crushing season every year and same function is expected on Saturday.
