Farmers stopped the land demarcation for the IIT project
proposed at Sanguem. Farmers, especially women came out in large numbers.
Hysterical women argued with the police that the fields were their ancestral
heritage and they were not ready to part with them. They also prayed for
protection from God. It is alleged that prime agricultural land is being taken for
the IIT project which faces stiff opposition from the people.
