Farmers urge govt to conduct inspection of polluted Pale Tollem

VASCO: The Farmers of Pale Tollem Xetkar-Amchem Association on Monday decided to write to Cansaulim Primary Health Centre, Goa State Pollution Control Board and Water Resource Department to conduct inspection along with water sample test of Pale Tollem, which is filled to full capacity and the water is stinking.

At the general body meeting held at Pale Chapel under Chairmanship of Roquezinho D’Souza, General Secretary Joaquim D’Souza and Treasurer Caitano Carvalho, around 26 farmers participated.

Discussions on various issues were held related to farming. Major issue was discussed and highlighted was that of Pale Tollem. The nullah connecting Pale Tollem has been flowing from Cansaulim village. The farmers feel that the water is contaminated due to effluents released in the nullah from sewage and other waste. 

Chairman Roquezinho informed the farmers that the pending issue to have a Zonal Agricultural Office in Mormugao Taluka and to his interaction with Chief Minister on October 8, at Zuarinagar during Sarkar Tumche Daari, the Chief Minister promised that he will do the needful at the earliest.
