PONDA: Dairy farmers, who have been agitating against mismanagement in Goa Dairy, have welcomed the disqualification of the eight directors of the co-operative milk producer.
The farmers said they are very happy and excited over the disqualification of eight directors “who looted Goa Dairy”.
Jayant Desai, an elated farmer, said, “We congratulate Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who had assured in the Assembly to send home the guilty officials in Goa Dairy.”
Another farmer Anup Desai, who recently launched a fast unto death agitation in front of Goa Dairy premises demanding removal of then MD, said the disqualified directors were like cancer in Goa Dairy. “Now, the cancer has been removed,” he said.
Anup Desai hopes that with the disqualification of the “corrupt directors”, the Goa Dairy would run on the path of profit making. He said that the government should keep vigil so that Goa Dairy does not become another loss making unit like Sanjeevani sugar factory.
