MARGAO: The health condition of Margao TMC leader and MMC Councillor Mahesh Amonkar worsened on Wednesday, as he continued his hunger strike for the second day demanding assurance from the concerned authorities to revoke the decision of changing zone at Sonsoddo area allotted for kabrastan.
In the morning Mahesh along with other members of the Muslim community continued the hunger strike. However, in the evening the health condition of the TMC leader worsened. And hence 108 ambulances were called on the site.
During the check-up it was found that he needed medication but refused to take any.
“I will continue my hunger strike till the demand is fulfilled. I want concrete assurance from the Chief Minister or the Deputy Chief Minister to revoke the decision pertaining to changing the zone at Sonsoddo”, he told media.
It is pertinent to note that Mahesh had already submitted the memorandum in this regard to the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA), besides the Margao Municipal Council.
He had alleged that neither the concerned authority nor the local MLA had taken the Muslim community into confidence before changing the zone in the Outline Development Plan of Margao.
On Tuesday he had warned that the hunger strike will continue till he gets the written assurance to revoke the decision.
