A fatal collision between a car and a bus, in Mashem Canacona, has claimed life of the car driver. The victim, identified as 59-year-old Rajesh Vernekar from Karnataka, was the driver of the ill-fated car involved in the accident.
Reports indicate that the collision occurred at Mashem, Dapat, Canacona, leaving Vernekar trapped inside the wreckage of his car. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Vernekar succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
The impact of the collision also caused severe injuries to five other occupants of the car. The identities of these individuals have not been disclosed at the time of this report. They have been rushed to South Goa District Hospital for urgent treatment.
Initial investigations suggest that Vernekar and his family, who hail from Gadag, Karnataka, were on a temple visit to Goa. The purpose of their journey was to seek spiritual solace, but it ended in a heart-wrenching tragedy.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
