MARGAO: Asserting that Margao police are conducting probe into the suicide of Executive Engineer Pravin Fatarpekar, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Monday said he has learnt that there were pressures on the deceased engineer to do illegal things and that he was facing some personal problem too.
Asked to shed light on the death of the 54-year-old Executive Engineer, who died by hanging at his residence at Gogol 10 days ago, the PWD Minister said Fatarpekar was a very good engineer and one known for his helpful nature. He, however, said that the Executive Engineer was facing some pressure and only police investigation will be able to throw light on the matter. “Fatarpekar was facing some pressure. There were even letters written by some persons suggesting threats to the engineer,” he said.
Asked to elaborate on the pressures Fatarpekar was facing as an Executive Engineer, Dhavalikar said, “there were pressures to do illegal work. Besides, I have come to know that he had some personal problem too. Only after investigation is complete, we will come to know the exact motive behind the death of the Executive Engineer.”
Meanwhile, Margao PI Sudesh Naik has said that family members of Fatarpekar have so far not suspected any foul play in his death. “We have interrogated the family members, who so far do not suspect any foul play. The police are also interrogating PWD officials in connection with the suicide case,” PI Sudesh said.
