MARGAO: An appalling incident has shaken a village in Salcete, as a father stands accused of raping his own special-needs daughter. The distressing revelation came to light when the victim’s mother, who had been abroad for work, returned to Goa. The young woman disclosed the horrifying details to her mother, who then wasted no time in lodging a complaint with the Maina-Curtorim police.
Taking swift action, the Maina-Curtorim police have registered the offense against the father under IPC Sections 376, 354, 324, as well as Section 92 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
The accused, a driver by profession, has been taken into police custody and is scheduled to appear in court for remand on Friday.
Sources indicate that the accused raped his daughter, a 21-year-old special-needs individual, on multiple occasions at their residence, and also physically abused her, causing bodily injuries.
Medical examinations have been conducted to gather evidence and document the extent of the assault. PSI Varshada Naik Dessai is leading the investigation into the case.
