A 62-year-old man from Sada-Mormugao died while his daughter was injured when their motorcycle and a bus collided with each other near the fish market, here on Saturday evening.
According to reports, the incident took place as Jaydev Jhanjhu Divadkar (62), who resides near Laximinarayan Temple at Sada, along with his daughter Minaxi Sunil Shetgaonkar (32), were crossing an internal road near the Vasco fish market on their Suzuki bike (GA-02-T-4032).
The motorcycle was knocked down by a speeding passenger bus (GA-02-T-4032) at the road junction.
Jaydev sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to the Chicalim Cottage Hospital in a police jeep. Doctors at the hospital, however, declared him dead on arrival. Minaxi was later moved to the Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim.
As fate would have it, Jaydev had gone to visit his son at the Chicalim hospital along with Minaxi barely half an hour before the mishap.
The son was shocked to see the body of his father in the hospital half an hour after they had met each other in the hospital.
