PANJIM: It is difficult to digest that such gross acts happen in Goa. And even more shocking that the police could actually have the guts to act callously in not apprehending the father. But it happened in North Goa.
In what can only be construed as the nadir of perversion – a father not only showed his daughters a porn clip, but also asked them to perform oral sex with him before sexually abusing one in front of the other. When a complaint was made to the police, the police flatly refused to register it, telling them that they would ‘settle’ the issue and sent them home. To top it all, the police actually took the mobile from the accused and returned it to him after a couple of days minus the clip.
“The mother had come with a complaint against her husband, and not about sexually abusing his daughter,” was the excuse of a police officer who blurted out when contacted.
The sordid tale began when the accused father was having ‘explicit’ phone sex in front of his wife and minor children. When his wife objected, he beat her brutally.
When the woman complained to the cops, her husband was called in, warned and released. Thereafter he took his daughters with him and hired a room. The accused then showed them a porn clip from his mobile and asked one of them to do what she saw there.
Thereafter the father abused one of the girls in a variety of ways.
When they came back home, the daughters told the mother their nightmare, after which the mother complained to the police. The police took the complaint, but did not register it.
When one of the daughters told the police about the porn clip, police asked the father for his mobile phone. But he claimed not to have one, only to be caught with the cell ringing in his pocket, when police called his number.
When the police refused to cooperate, the mother went to NGO Bailancho Saad, who took the victims to the women’s police station. It was only then that their complaint was registered and statements recorded.
“I spoke to the women’s police station,” Bailancho Saad convenor Sabina Martins told Herald, adding that they then called the mother to the police station and listened to what she had to say.
Police independently recorded the statement.
The case was finally registered Friday and the husband was arrested.
