RAIA: Goa Vikas Party candidate Fatima Gaunkar won the Raia seat by defeating her nearest rival Meera Colaco by a slender margin of 382 votes. While Fatima polled 3602 votes, Meera got 3220 votes. The remaining two candidates Fatima Fernandes and Dulcina Fernandes polled 823 and 872 votes respectively.
Fatima later told the media that she would have won the election with a bigger margin if she had not to contest on the GVP as her opponents raked up issues such as Ghar wapsi, attacks on Mother Tereza and beef shortage against her.
