MARGAO: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has said that he would be visiting a garbage treatment plant at Solapur to understand its working and recommend such plant for Margao.

He claimed that the Solapur plant was set up at one fourth the cost of Saligao plant. Vijai claimed that the plant in Solapur is running for the last 12 years.
Meanwhile, the MLA said that he is worried that the garbage generated in Margao is not being treated daily at the Sonsoddo plant. “If this continues, another mound of garbage will develop at Sonsoddo,” he warned.
Admitting that the Waste Management Corporation “is doing a good job,” Vijai said he has his reservations over the Sonsoddo operation. “After the exit of the Fomento what is being done to daily waste? We are observing and my fear is that with the MMC taking over the plant another hill of garbage will come up because daily waste is not being treated at all,” Vijai said.
