A large gathering from ward 4 that attended the Sunday dialogues – an initiative of independent MLA from Fatorda Vijai Sardesai, unanimously conveyed to the MLA how Fatorda is totally unprepared and that there is no pre-monsoon work initiated in their ward.
The people appreciated Sardesai for his novel initiative and thanked him for arranging a platform where the locals can get their issues addressed at their doorstep. In what is beginning to be termed as a ‘Mohalla Sabha’ people can directly interact with their MLA and get time bound solutions to their problems.
What was noticed at the Sunday dialogue was that majority of the complaints were pertaining to the district administration and civic authorities who have failed to initiate any pre-monsoon work in the ward. “None of the drains have been de-silted yet,” was the major complaint of the people. The people raised apprehensions about water from the choked drains entering their houses.
Sardesai after the programme toured the ward and saw firsthand that the drains were indeed choked. Sardesai said that the civic body and district administration have not been attending the Sunday dialogue regularly, precisely because they would have to deal with such complaints of the people as no pre monsoon work has been initiated by them. He said despite several requests, no officials from these two departments attend the programme. He however thanked the other government officials for sacrificing their time and attending the function and also taking prompt action to settle the issues of the people.
