MARGAO: Around 20 youngsters from Chandrawada-Fatorda and all belonging to the Muslim community joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday and they were inducted in the party by Deputy Chief Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar.
Former and aspiring MLA of Fatorda Damodar alias Damu Naik was also present and both of them welcomed the Muslim youth into the party. Most of them were earlier supporters of the Congress while a few were Goa Forward Party backers.
Irfan Shaikh, who joined the BJP on Tuesday said he was earlier associated with the Congress and then the Goa Forward Party though he was not a member of any of the parties. “I decided to join BJP because I liked their work and also the style in which they work,” he said.
The group that joined BJP was led by Sameer Makhanda who deals with scrap in Fatorda.
