Fatorda’s carnival to have Bollywood touch

MARGAO: Continuing its 15-year-old tradition, ‘We For Fatorda’ has planned for a star- studded Carnival Celebration on all 4 days of carnival.  Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai who is the patron of We For Fatorda, announced the program, which is being called “The Big Fat Fatorda Carnival Blast-2020”.

It will be held between February 22 to 25, next to the Old Market Circle and will feature renowned musical talent such as Paixao Groove (Passion Groove), a top international collective band and other top Goan bands like The Forefront, Raagas to Riches, Alcatrazz, Lynx, Pure Magic, Runks, Archies and Uzo.

The highlight will be the Bollywood stars gracing the event, namely, Rohit Roy, Salil Ankola, Shahwar Ali, Bhumicka Singh, Dalip Tahil, Naved Jaffery, Niharica Kumari Raizada  and Sakshi Kalani.

The other highlight is the Food Court featuring 10 Five Star Hotels, which will offer cuisine at absolutely affordable local rates; along with other stalls hosted by Self Help Groups and other leading restaurants.

“All Fatordekars are invited to make the event a grand success and to exhibit the festive spirit of Fatorda,” said the organizers.

Speaking about shifting in venue, which is now near the relocated SFX Chapel at Maddel, Sardesai added that ‘dirty tricks will not work’. ” While the government has done their best to sabotage Goa’s biggest and most popular Fatorda Carnival ‘ Back to the Streets’ by denying us permission while granting the same in Panjim, we are answering them with an even bigger, more popular and exciting event this year,” said Sardesai on social media.

“Disallowing Fatorda’s ‘Back to the Streets Carnival’ on the grounds of road closure causing inconvenience whilst allowing same at Panjim and in the heart of Margao smacks of political vendetta. Bureaucrats who are silent spectators to their observations being disregarded are like caged parrots”, he tweeted.
