CUNCOLIM: The Fatorpa-Quitol Panchayat on Saturday decided to keep the market closed from June 28 till July 5 following reports of COVID-19 positive cases in the locality.
Fatorpa Sarpanch Manda Naik Dessai issued notices to vendors and shopkeepers to keep market closed till July 5 as on Saturday two COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the panchayat area.
The panchayat move follows the complete lockdown announcement by the Cuncolim Municipal Council from June 28 till July 5.
On Friday, the CMC had issued notices to local vendors, shopkeepers and locals to participate in complete lockdown for eight days as two COVID-19 positive cases were detected in the municipal jurisdiction while one case was detected in Buring, Balli.
Meanwhile, the reports of all inmates and staff of Provedoria old age home came negative.
It may be recalled 34 samples were collected by Primary Health Centre for testing. All 34 reports came negative on Saturday. Of the 34 samples, 28 were of the inmates and the rest were of the PHC staff.
On Friday, a woman working at PHC tested positive for COVID-19 which led to the testing of the old age home inmates and PHC staff.
