MARGAO: The annual Zatrotsav of Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarin will be celebrated from January 16 at Fatorpa.
The six day festivities, which draws over a lakh of devotees every year, will culminate on January 21.
Addressing the media, President of Shree Shantadurage Kunkallikarin Saunstha Shivaji Dessai told media that the festival will commence on January 16, while Deity will be carried in a procession on the Elephant Chariot the following day on January 17.
He said the Flower Chariot procession will take place on January 18, while the Vijai Rath procession will be held on January 19.
The festivities will culminate with the Maha Rath procession where in the Deity will be carried out in a richly decorated Chariot on anuary 20.
Saustha secretary Virendra Dessai said that the Committee has chalked out elaborate plans for the grand celebration of the Zatra. He said the Committee has laid stress on the security arrangements during the festivities. “We have decided to install CCTV cameras, besides giant screens to monitor the movement of anti-social elements. We have interacted with the police and the men-in-uniform have offered to make all security arrangements during the Zatra”, he added.
