PANJIM: Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar on Friday directed the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and the Department of Fisheries to stringently monitor the quality of fish sold in Goan fish markets.
The minister has also sought a report from Fisheries Department regarding the same by Monday.
An order issued to the Director of Food and Drugs states that that FDA may conduct joint inspection along with fisheries department so that such matters are curtailed.
Palyekar told Herald he had received many complaints from consumers on the quality of ice (the water) used to for storing fish and bad quality fish sold in the marker. Hence, he issued the direction.
