MARGAO: A team of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials conducted a surprise surveillance drive on eateries operating under unsanitary and unhygienic conditions in Salcete and many units were found flouting the norms.
The Bangalore Iyengar cake house situated at Fatorda, was found operating without a valid license in an unhygienic condition.The officials later confiscated goods worth Rs 2,300 and shut down the premises.
The Red Carpet restaurant situated at Aquem Alto Margao Goa and Udupi Marut Darshini situated at Aquem Alto Margao, were also found operating under unhygienic conditions. The premises were directed to shut down.
Gokul Manufacturing unit, situated at the Housing Board at Davorlim which was inspected earlier, was re inspected and was found operating in similar unhygienic condition and had to face the FDA wrath too.
